One Year of Menstrual Blood; in melt
menstrual blood harvested from artist as icicle, cotton cloth
80 x 51 cm / 31.5 x 20 in
2024

From June 2023-June 2024, I saved my menstrual blood. Inspired by the harsh Midwest winters, I fashioned the liquid into an icicle.

Kept in a freezer in Iowa City, until August 3rd, 2024, when the icicle was placed in a sun room and left to melt on a white cotton cloth for 2 hours and 42 minutes.

Blood Icicle

18 fluid ounces of menstrual blood was shaped into an icicle and displayed in a freezer, Iowa City, 2024.

KRV

The following weeks the cloth was left to dry. KRV is an artifact from this melting process.
