A dovetail project from Blood Icicle, artist’s menstrual blood melted on a piece of white cotton and was left to dry for the following month. A type of natural sheen creates a fixed appeared, while the piece has an archaic feel. Hand sewn beads and embroidery decorate the white spaces. A stitched small blue horse, uterus shaped flowers and the Cyrillic letters, “KRV”, meaning blood in Serbian.
Blood Icicle was kept in a freezer in Iowa City, until August 3rd, 2024, when the icicle was placed in a sun room and left to melt on a white cotton cloth for 2 hours and 42 minutes.
The following weeks the cloth was left to dry. KRV was created after the blood had hardened about one month later.
